English language courses are awarded by Trinity College London, a leading international examinations board. The courses are designed to help students and trainees progress at all levels of competence.
We offer a wide range of English courses. Individual programmes of study are created for students and they are given support, according to their needs. Students are allocated to teaching groups based on the level of their spoken English as found below:
- Beginner Level
- Intermediate Level
- Advanced Level
- Business Level
English Language and ESOL courses are suitable for:
- Home students who want to work or study abroad, or to develop a career which requires language skills
(e.g. business, medicine, engineering)
- Those who want the opportunity to improve employment skills
- Students whose native language is not English
- Settled communities
- Refugees and asylum seekers
- Migrant workers
- Partners and spouses of learners settled in UK
For International Students
We offer courses in English Language and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at different levels: Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 of the Basic Skills Standards.
Assessment
The assessment tasks within these qualifications are designed to meet the needs of a diverse group of UK-based ESOL learners. You are prepared for the examinations suitable for your course and level and there are good progression routes to other courses. The nature of the examinations is such that the emphasis is on intelligibility, confidence and the genuine ability to communicate rather than on text book learning.
Duration
Courses run throughout the year. There are full-time and part-time courses morning, afternoon and evening.
Fees
English language is free for students who are already enrolled in another full-time course at Victoria College Nottingham.
