This qualification is equivalent to year 1 of a 3 year UK honours degree / HE Level C (Certificate) or NQF Level:4. IDCS is equivalent to year one of a 3 year UK honours degree.
The International Diploma in Computer Studies is the first year of NCC Education IT Degree journey. The programme gives students a broad introduction to IT, preparing them for further study or employment in the IT field.
During the teaching of the programme students wil be exposed to a balance of academic and vocational subjects in order to provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to a range of IT-related functions.
On successful completion of the programme, students will be able to: continue study on the NCC Education International Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies (IADCS), continue study at a UK University or work in one of many areas of the IT industry.
Course Contents: Students must study the following six core modules:
• Computer Technology
• Systems Development
• Programming Methods
• Fundamentals of Hardware and Operating Systems
• Business Communication
• Networking
Any two of the following modules
• Java
• Visual Basic
• Web Design
• e-Business
• Organisational and Business Structures
Entry Requirements:
On entry a student must have at least one of the following:
* NCC Education International Foundation Year (IFY) qualification
An International qualification which is deemed to be of a similar level to the NCC Education IFY programme. This shall be agreed in advance with NCC Education through Birmingham International College.
At least one "A" Level pass or an appropriate School Leaver's Certificate
Vocational experience which is deemed suitable by NCC Education
For students whose first language is not English, the required standard to enter the programme is IELTS band 5.0 or equivalent.
Awarding Body: International Diploma in Computer Studies is awarded by NCC Education
